    Pow catalogue

I’ve been with Pow for a few years and this year they published one of my photos in their 2013-14 catalogue.

Best part about it is that it’s Vanessa Chan’s first published photo.

    Here it is:

    Voleurz: Kill Your Boredom

    KILL YOUR BOREDOM:
Voleurz’ eighth feature-length film showcases the antics and exploits of the Voleurz family, and features snowboarders and skiers forced against each other in an all out bloodbath. Who will take the throne?
Kill Your Boredom highlights include riding from newly appointed Voleurz snowboarder Geoff Brown jumping unique road gaps and adding a double cork in the backcountry to his already heavy bag of tricks; skier Rob Heule shows us what it takes to be skiing’s up-and-coming urban slayer, proving that the infamous 5-kink elbow rail in Calgary is actually possible; and of course, the hilarious and not-to-be-missed Winter Volympics will once again leave your mom asking, “who are these morons?”
Featuring Geoff Brown, Rob Heule, KC Deane, Braden Dean, Simon d’Artois, Jesmond Dubeau, Joe Schuster, Mack Jones, Justin VDP, Shayne Zwickel, Jesse Millen, Warren Williams, Andrew Jackson, Josh Daiek, Cody Shepherd, Barry Hartman, Josh Bibby, Elyse Saugstad, Jake Black & more
Produced & Directed by Darren Rayner & The Voleurz Family
Principal Cinematography by Darren Rayner, Mason Mashon, Pat King, with additional shots by Vanessa Chan
RED cinematography by Jan Schuster & Mile End Media
RC Heli by Justin Hannewyk & Heli Video Pros

    Seymour Spring Session

    Image for Seymour Spring Session

Here’s a short video of a jump Duncan and I hit up Seymour about a month ago. We hiked up an hour to find this jump spot. It was a lot of fun to just have a stress free session on this little jump. Nothing huge, just some good times. We had an RC heli filming as well, those might be used in the Voleurz movie.

Thanks for the Video Trevor Allen

This is the other video that I was involved with for intersection. Family Tree always comes out with great videos and this one is no exception. Ryan Kenny poured his heart and soul into this video, and it shows, this movie is all heart.

    Enjoy:

Big thanks to Ryan Kenny for including Vanessa and I. And thanks Arne for flying all the way from Germany to help out.

The Science of Airborning: …..Art of flight spoof

Image for The Science of Airborning: …..Art of flight spoof

    WE WON INTERSECTION!!!

Well winter is gone, and spring is here. We wrapped up the winter with Whistler’s Ski and Snowboard Festival. I worked with Voleurz for the 7-day film contest called intersection.

The rules were that the video had to be filmed and edited in 7 days. It had to be completely shot within 100 km radious of Whistler. The video had to include skiers and snowboarders.  30 seconds had to be filmed in the park and 30 seconds had to be filmed on Whistler Blackcomb.

Our submission was called Science of Airborning and it was a spoof of Art of Flight. We ended up winning intersection with this video. It was a lot of work and the snow conditions were pretty terrible. We had to film in the poring rain and side slip a few landings. It wasn’t ideal conditions but we made the most of it. We’re so pumped to share this video with everyone, so here it is:

Snomie talks about my tap frontside boardslide

My friends at posted some kind words about a trick I invented, the tap Frontbard.

    Here’s the link:

In the article jed says that I “take a very basic trick, the frontside boardside, and add a bit of style and flair to turn it into a different trick, the tap front board”

Thanks for the kind words and the article Jed.
